Supervalu Tidy Towns Competition

The Supervalu TidyTowns annual competition is a nationwide initiative that encourages communities to enhance the appearance and sustainability of their local areas. Established in 1958, it promotes civic pride, environmental awareness, and community involvement across Ireland.

Supporting Our Local Tidy Towns

The Tidy Towns competition is about much more than judging day – it’s about community pride, shared responsibility, and working together to make our town a better place to live, work, and visit.

Each year, volunteers from the local Tidy Towns group give countless hours to planting, painting, cleaning, planning, and improving our streets, green spaces, and amenities. But their efforts are strongest when the whole community gets involved.

Judging typically takes place during the summer months, often without prior notice, so every small action in the weeks and months beforehand really counts. Keeping areas tidy, litter-free, and well cared for helps create a positive impression at any time.

There are lots of ways everyone can help – big and small:

  • Pick up litter when you’re out and about

  • Keep the front of your home or business neat and well-maintained

  • Mind hedges, walls, and boundary areas

  • Support local planting, biodiversity, and sustainability efforts

  • Volunteer time, skills, or ideas with the Tidy Towns group

  • Encourage others to take pride in our shared spaces

When residents, businesses, schools, and community groups work together, the impact is huge. Tidy Towns is truly a team effort, and every contribution – no matter how small – helps showcase the best of our town.

Together, we can make a difference and ensure our community shines, not just for judging day, but all year round. 🌱✨
